The Uxbridge policy subcommittee on June 5 reviewed and voted to move an updated meal-charge policy to the full School Committee for a first reading.
Members said the replacement policy updates the district's EFD meal-charge policy to match DESE guidance and current program conditions (including periods when lunch was provided free). Highlights discussed included removal of staff charging privileges to prevent large charge accruals and clarified language on delinquent-account collection. The draft also states that refund requests must be submitted within six months of graduation; a committee member read the provision aloud as a point of emphasis: "Refund request must be submitted within 6 months of graduation."
Committee members said the changes were largely procedural and DESE-approved; one member said the policy would replace policy EFD and be placed in the updated policy manual pending the full committee's first read. A motion to move the meal-charge policy to the full committee was made, seconded and approved by voice vote.
