Uxbridge tables three water‑service connection requests; approves previous meeting minutes

At the Sept. 8, 2025 meeting the Town of Uxbridge Water and Sewer Commission heard from Robert Sims of Comprehensive Environmental, who sought approval for three new service connections at the Kempton/Kemper Road and East Street intersection using cistern systems previously approved in 2019. Sims said town per‑capita water use is currently about 44 gallons per day and argued the cistern systems (designed for about 70 gpd per person and four people per household) have precedent in earlier approvals.
Commissioners and residents raised concerns about the current condition and capacity of the East Street pump station, the potential for future development to increase demand, and the precedent of approving new connections as more projects apply. Commissioners asked for additional data from DPW and the superintendent — specifically, updated capacity analyses, projections for development, and how adding connections would affect peak and fire flows — before granting any new connections.
Chair moved to table the applicant's request for three service connections until the next meeting to allow the town and consultants to provide the requested capacity and growth information; the commission agreed to wait for that material before voting.
Later in the meeting the commission moved to approve meeting minutes for April 10, May 27, June 9 and June 23, 2025. A motion was made and seconded and the commission recorded multiple 'yes' roll‑call responses and approved the minutes as presented.
