Alvin Gerdina, a volunteer with the Kennesaw Farmers Market and a PhD candidate in criminal justice, told the council his top priorities would be pedestrian-safety investments, working with downtown landowners to promote storefront development suited to local vendors, and returning a playground to the Depot parking area. Gerdina invited his opponent to a public debate on Oct. 23 and said he had reached out to Parks and Rec to reserve an outdoor classroom for the event.
John Baldus thanked Councilmember Pat Farris for his years of service, praised his willingness to ask tough questions and said he plans to propose a commemorative honor should he be elected.
