Walton County schools honor teachers, staff, volunteers and a deputy with Walton Impact Awards

Sharon Elementary honored Deputy Joseph Hatchett for his work as a school resource officer, with multiple speakers and written nominations praising his daily engagement with students, implementation of safety protocols and mentoring in classrooms. A fifth‑grade student, identified as Maddie Dutson in the transcript, is recorded as saying Deputy Hatchett was "a great person" who was "caring and thoughtful."
Loganville Middle recognized Sunil Nicholas on behalf of Mathnasium for sponsoring a successful math night that attracted more than 200 participants and for partnering with local schools. Loganville High honored Megan Herndon for mentoring through programs such as Ladies First and for community support through Shepherd staff. The district's employee recognition program (sponsored by Koch Orthodontics) named nurse Lauren Bingham of Walnut Grove High School as a monthly recipient for student support and staff contributions; the district will deliver her award at Walnut Grove because she had to attend a family event the evening of the meeting.
Superintendent remarks and a brief slideshow/video introduction prefaced the recognitions; pictures from the presentations will be posted on the district website, according to the superintendent. Attendees were offered a short intermission after recognitions.
