The Development Authority of Alpharetta voted to approve a memorandum of understanding with the AlphaLoop Foundation that provides a $20,000 contribution to support a month‑long holiday light display and programming along a one‑mile stretch of the Alpha Loop Trail.
Charlie said a work session on Sept. 2 produced consensus to support the project and staff and counsel developed an MOU. Charlie told the board the authority has about $261,321 in unrestricted funds available for board investment. Two members disclosed service with the AlphaLoop Foundation and said they would refrain from discussion and abstain from voting.
Karen Richards of the AlphaLoop Foundation described the event schedule: the foundation will "activate" the display across three consecutive weekends starting Dec. 5 and keep lights illuminated nightly from 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. throughout December. "Our events are free of charge," she said.
Sean moved to approve the 09/30/2025 MOU and authorized the chair to execute necessary documents; David seconded. With two members abstaining for disclosed conflicts, the Chair announced the motion passed with the participating five members voting in favor.
The MOU directs the authority to provide the stated contribution to support the Foundation's planned programming and lighting along the Alpha Loop Trail.
