Habitat for Humanity Conyers finishes three homes; asks council and volunteers for support

Conyers — Bob Nedvedt, president of the Conyers chapter of Habitat for Humanity, updated the City Council on a local building project and asked for volunteers and civic support.
Nedvedt told council members Habitat is finishing three homes on Faith Lane and will hold ribbon-cuttings in November. He said two of the recipient households are single mothers with children and emphasized the program’s combination of volunteer labor, student participation and partnerships with local organizations. "We presently are giving out 3 homes," Nedvedt said, and added that new homeowners participate in a minimum of 200 hours of sweat equity as part of their qualification.
Nedvedt invited council members and the public to volunteer and attend forthcoming ribbon-cuttings.
What happens next: Habitat expects to complete the homes around November and will invite city and county officials to ribbon-cutting events.
