Logan County court approves truck purchase, personnel promotions and multiple grants; tables HVAC bids

Purchases and contracts: The court approved purchase of a 2016 Ram 5500 with snow blade from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet for $25,000, after the road supervisor reported the vehicle was in good operating condition and would be less expensive than buying new. The court also approved an agreement with K Mac Contracting LLC to repair a section of Ferguson Road and accepted an amendment to an economic-development grant extending the West Industrial Park road project timeline by one year.
Jail services: The jailer reported inmate counts and programming and asked the court to approve an electronic medical-record (EMR) software contract. One court member requested removal of a jury-trial-waiver clause; counsel indicated the vendor would amend the contract to remove that waiver. The court authorized execution of the contract after that change is made.
Personnel and local contributions: The court approved two personnel promotions in dispatch/911 (Brooklyn Hardison and Mandy Crafton) with effective dates and recognition of prior experience. It also approved modest county contributions: $2,500 to the Logan County Tourism and Convention Commission and $200 to the Emancipation Proclamation Celebration Parade Committee.
Grants, surplus and facility work: The court approved the litter-abatement grant application for FY2025–26 and authorized disposition of a small number of used filing cabinets from the county clerk's inventory. Bids for HVAC maintenance across county buildings were opened and reviewed, but the judge asked for additional details and tabled award decisions to the next meeting so the judge and staff can vet line-item counts and options.
Next steps: County staff will implement the truck purchase and coordinate contract pickups; the EMR contract will be executed after vendor revisions; HVAC bidders were asked for clarifications and the judge will present recommendations at the next court meeting.
