Several residents used the public-comment period to press the Norcross City Council on housing affordability, pedestrian/cyclist safety and the role of volunteers in civic events.
Ken Hall introduced himself and was followed by Kathleen Allen, who defended a volunteer (identified as Chuck Paul) and criticized what she described as unfair accusations and wasteful use of tax dollars. Reed Foreman, visiting from Destin, Florida, said housing costs in Norcross are prohibitively high for many families and expressed interest in 'Techni Homes' (tiny/modular units) as a potential housing option to help younger families move into the city.
Dave Jones urged the council to address a specific traffic-safety problem at the intersection of Wingo and Jones Street, saying visibility is poor and suggesting the city consider signage or a yield control at the parklet end to reduce danger.
Council thanked the speakers and indicated the 'Safe Streets for All' item and related consent items would be considered as part of the consent agenda or later discussion as appropriate.
