Utility staff told the board on Oct. 9 that they have assembled a team to draft utility policies with a target of producing a first draft in mid-November and finalization by the end of December. Staff said they are adapting policy templates received from other utilities and will share those materials with the board; staff invited board members to participate in the process and offered to begin monthly updates on capital projects.
Separately, staff reported preliminary outreach from a data center developer interested in purchasing or using up to several megawatts of available capacity; staff said the opportunity is early-stage and that staff will bring contracts and recommendations back to the board and commission as they develop. The board asked for copies of model policies, regular project updates and careful review of any future energy sales or capacity agreements.
Outcome: Board received the update and staff will provide draft policies in coming weeks and bring any data-center agreements for review before formal action.
