Magoffin County’s fiscal court approved authorizing use of ADF funds (a legislative allocation housed through Big Sandy Ave) to pay for pickleball courts at Grandview Park and a new community center parking lot at the former library site.
Unidentified Speaker 2 said ADF is an allowable funding source for such projects but that the county must submit the request to the Department for Local Government for approval. Speaker 2 described prior work at the park—resurfacing half of the old tennis courts—and said the planned work will finish the conversion, creating eight pickleball courts and one remaining tennis court. Speaker 2 moved to authorize use of ADF funds to proceed; the motion was seconded and carried by voice vote.
The court noted it will prepare contracts and pursue required departmental approvals; exact project budgets and contractor names were not provided during the meeting.
