The Chippewa Falls Area Unified School District board approved a 15¢ increase in school meal prices for the 2025–26 school year.
Administration told the board the district had not raised meal prices since 2016 and that vendor costs and staff compensation increases have placed pressure on the food service fund. The recommended incremental increase of 15¢ was presented as preferable to a larger, less frequent jump.
As presented by the food‑service lead, representative price changes would include elementary breakfast rising from $0.35 to $0.50, elementary lunch from $2.25 to $2.40, middle‑school breakfast from $0.85 to $1.00, middle‑school lunch from $2.50 to $2.65, high‑school breakfast from $1.00 to $1.15, and high‑school lunch from $2.50 to $2.65. Adult prices would increase similarly. Administration stated that reduced‑price breakfasts and lunches that are currently free to eligible students would remain free.
Board members asked whether the reduced and free meal programs would continue; administration confirmed eligibility and pricing protections remain. The motion to increase meal prices by 15¢ carried by voice vote.
The district said the increase will be implemented through the food service fund and that no general‑fund dollars are required for these price changes.
