Residents share local history, candidate announces town hall and council members highlight fall events

Several members of the public used the general comment period at the Oct. 20 council meeting to highlight community events and local history and to make a campaign announcement.
Andrew Brammerton (Summerfield Court) described the Kennesaw cemetery tour and called attention to the Addams family and Addams Park, encouraging residents to attend the tour and related programming. "This year's tour focuses on namesakes of local streets, schools, buildings, and parks," he said.
Donovan Giardino introduced himself as a candidate for Kennesaw City Council Post 3 and invited the public and council members to a town hall at Depot Park’s outdoor classroom. He also praised the newly approved business license in his neighborhood but said he would like the city to review its approval process so similar future items need not come to council.
Council members used their time to remind residents about seasonal events: the Nightmare on Main 5K, Candy Crawl at Depot Park, Tales from the Rails at the Southern Museum, the plant swap at Smith Gilbert Gardens, and Life in the Cemetery events scheduled Friday through Sunday. Several council members encouraged participation and noted a Harvest Gathering at Smith Gilbert Gardens on Nov. 2, with proceeds supporting the Smith Gilbert Gardens Foundation.
