The Town of Uxbridge select board voted to approve the Greenway Challenge route and event traffic plan, adopting the same officer placement and transition arrangements used last year.
Speaker 4 walked the board through the operational plan, describing officers positioned on both ends of the bridge to slow traffic during the runner transition and an established transfer zone at Rice City. Speaker 2 moved to approve the plan and a second was recorded; the board then voted in favor with verbal “Aye” responses and the plan was approved.
Separately, staff updated the board on upcoming coordinated road closures: Aldridge Street, Kearny and Ironstone. Speaker 5 said Onyx and the contractor accelerated the Ironstone work because an undermined culvert required an emergency closure; businesses near that site will be notified and detour signage is already in place. Speaker 4 noted electronic message boards and Facebook notices were used to warn motorists in advance.
The board also discussed bus routing for impacted school pickups and temporary no‑parking construction signs to enable large vehicle turning movements. No additional permits or votes were required at the meeting beyond the Greenway Challenge approval.
