Fallon County opens bids for FMC renovation; commissioners approve routine grants, hires and equipment purchases

During the county’s public meeting, Fallon County officials conducted a public bid opening for planned Fallon Medical Center renovation work and handled a package of routine county business.
Design and contractor representatives opened sealed bids in public: Jackson Contractor Group submitted a base bid of $645,000; Sletten (listed as Sutton in the bid opening) submitted roughly $603,790; and DV Builders submitted about $889,400. County staff said the bids would be verified and placed on the commissioners’ next agenda for award, subject to standard review of bonds and compliance with specifications.
Separately, the board approved several routine items by motion: purchase and installation of new desks for a county office (motion carried), authorization to accept an FAA airport grant agreement for airport improvements (motion carried), and a resolution approving a perpetual nonexclusive easement for Roddy and Maxine Rost. Commissioners also approved a first amendment to a mental-health services agreement covering Baker High School. The board voted to hire Mariah Pollock as a detention officer following the sheriff’s recommendation.
Commissioners approved acquisition of a snowblower and floor sweeper for airport/hangar maintenance and heard airport updates (beacon/transformer repairs and pavement maintenance scheduling). The board also discussed and voted to opt in to national opioid settlements (including the Purdue settlement and related national agreements) to ensure Fallon County’s eligibility for future allocation and participation.
Finance and hospital staff provided a high-level fiscal review for FMC, noting adjusted entries, accounts receivable aging issues and capital-asset purchases during the fiscal year. Commissioners received those reports and directed staff to finalize outstanding procurement and scheduling.
