Committee moves three State Parks board nominees forward after department endorsement

Hannah Slusser, representing the governor’s office, asked for confirmation of Russ Kipp, Jody Loomis and Kathy McClain and handed out district maps outlining board representation. Renee Lemon, parks and outdoor recreation division administrator at Fish, Wildlife and Parks, explained the board’s duties under Title 23, noting the board sets policy and direction for the state’s 56 parks and recreational resources and recently reviewed the acquisition of Judith Landing State Park. "The department supports the governor's appointments, and we recommend confirming these members," Lemon told the committee.
Supporters included the Fishing Outfitters Association, Trout Unlimited and others who described working with board members on rule packages and complex permitting questions. Nominees who addressed the committee described local ties and experience in parks, recreation and economic development.
The committee closed the hearing and will forward the nominations to the full Senate for confirmation votes.
