Students report on Morgridge Institute trip, local schools highlight fall activities

Student representatives and CHI High students described fall activities, athletics results and a five-day Morgridge Institute for Research trip that exposed students to lab research, ethics and college life.
Student representatives gave an overview of school events, including a pep assembly, elementary-school activities (Homestead, Hillcrest, Parkview, Southview, Stillson), homecoming events, and a student survey showing mixed lunchroom satisfaction. Coaches and students summarized fall athletics results and upcoming competitions.
A CHI High chemistry teacher brought five students to the Morgridge Institute for Research (UW–Madison) for a five‑day program. Students described hands-on experiences—observing stem-cell work, using an electron microscope, meeting PhD researchers over "researcher lunches," and learning about CRISPR and lab ethics. "It was an incredible experience and I'm really glad I had the opportunity to go," one student said.
Board members praised the presentations and thanked students and staff. The administration noted the presentations provide evidence used in instructional monitoring and curricular alignment reports.
