Frankfort — Franklin County Fiscal Court voted Oct. 15 to authorize the county to apply for an Office of Justice Programs/Bureau of Justice Assistance Community-Based Violence Intervention and Prevention Initiative grant. The application requests $2 million over four years ($500,000 per year), with the Wanda Joyce Robinson Foundation named as the proposed subrecipient.
Belinda and Amy explained the foundation will serve as the subrecipient and contribute 5% ($25,000) per grant year to the fiscal court to cover administrative costs. Amy and grant staff said the foundation will lead program development and reporting, while the fiscal court would serve as the applicant and fiscal agent.
Why it matters: the grant would expand violence-intervention capacity, support data-driven assessments and strengthen partnerships with the health department, county attorney’s Safe Streets initiative and other local providers. The court voted to approve the resolution to apply and to serve as recipient with Wanda Joyce Robinson Foundation as subrecipient.
