The House Business and Labor Committee adopted a consensus amendment to House Bill 882, a bill that addresses alcohol licensing language affecting hotels, short-term lodging and guest ranches. The amendment was described by staff as the result of negotiations between the tavern association and the gaming industry association.
Jamieson explained the amendment would remove the phrase "other short term lodging facility" when a licensee's premises include a hotel and would add a qualification that premises not be located within an incorporated city or town quota area. He also described a correction to guest-ranch language: the amendment permits alcoholic beverages to be served in outdoor portions of guest-ranch premises and in up to three permanent buildings during hours allowed under existing statute.
Members had no further discussion on the amendment and adopted it by voice vote. The committee then approved the bill as amended and moved it to the House floor.
