Committee-approved bill-draft requests included:
- A draft to clarify the definition of "ranch" used in agricultural property taxation (sponsor: Senator Roberts with Senator Pelton as co-requestor), intended to modernize the ag classification and address county-assessor concerns.
- A request to incorporate the Colorado Farmers Market Association into the Colorado Department of Agriculture (sponsor: Representative Martinez), modeled on a New Mexico approach.
- A draft to protect agricultural geographic indicators (sponsor: Representative Soper) to prevent mislabeling of regionally distinctive products (examples cited: Palisade peaches, Rocky Ford melons, Pueblo chilies, San Luis Valley potatoes) and to enable consumer-protection enforcement under the Attorney General.
- A request to limit the geographic concentration of large green-energy projects on agricultural lands while allowing agrivoltaics and private-owner waivers (sponsor: Senator Pelton), with suggested geographic percentage allocations discussed in committee comments.
Committee members approved the draft requests with no objections and were encouraged to coordinate with OLLS drafters and fiscal analysts to meet upcoming deadlines. The committee adjourned following the approvals.
