Tunica supervisors approve applications and contracts tied to DOT port study and EPA STAG funding

At the Sept. 15 meeting, North Delta Planning and Development representative Daryl Dixon recommended that Tunica County authorize an application to the Department of Transportation’s tribal assistance pilot program to fund a feasibility study for a Mississippi River port. Dixon said DOT had reissued the pilot opportunity after technical issues dissolved earlier submissions.
The board moved, seconded and approved the application authorization by voice vote.
Dixon also presented a proposed contract between Tunica County and North Delta Planning Development District for administrative services tied to congressionally directed STAG (State Tribal Assistance Grant) funding awarded through the Environmental Protection Agency. He said EPA’s consultant reviewed the county’s procurement language and returned clearance for the contract.
The board voted to approve the contract for administrative services by voice vote.
Dixon further asked the board to authorize signature for a contract between "Tuning Academy Mississippi" (as stated on the record) and engineer Neil Schafer; Dixon said EPA’s technical assistance provider reviewed and cleared that procurement language as well. The board approved that contract by voice vote.
