Board approves $2.93 million contract for Walnut Lake state-aid project

The county’s project lead reported that six contractors requested bid documents and five submitted bids. The engineer’s in-house estimate was $2,900,000; the recommended low bid was only slightly above that figure. “I’d like to recommend that we, award this contract to the low bidder, which is Talbot Brothers Contracting,” the project representative said.
Board members moved to accept the low bid, the motion was seconded, and the vote carried unanimously. The project was described as a state-aid job (reported as $72.75 in the staff remarks), and staff noted three tight bids among the submissions.
The contract award will proceed with standard county procurement steps for contract execution and pre-construction coordination with the county engineer and the vendor.
