Commission approves payroll, claims, resolution and consent items; bids opened for Boys Road shop

Resolution on private burials: Speaker 4 moved to adopt Resolution 07312025-01, "Disposition of bodies and burial of persons on private property in Carter County," with Speaker 5 seconding. The commission adopted the resolution and directed staff to correct a heading and supply the finalized paperwork for signatures.
Consent items: Speaker 5 moved to approve the consent items on the agenda for July 31, including the commissioner proceedings, the Cabin 6 Rehab contract with Picture Perfect (with removal of certain clauses), and a public-safety part‑pay agreement with the U.S. Forest Service; Speaker 4 seconded and the motion carried.
Bid opening: Staff opened two sealed bids for the Boys Road shop. Bidders included a Ridley contractor and a second bidder; a preliminary bid total of $814,925 was read for one bidder. The commission directed clerks and staff to review the bids for completeness and accuracy, tabulate results and return a recommendation for award at a subsequent meeting (tentatively Aug. 4).
