Granite County public health readies flu and COVID clinics, mental-health outreach and school inspections

Public health reported plans to start flu and COVID vaccination clinics Oct. 6, school and daycare clinics, a health fair Oct. 24 in Phillipsburg, and a November theater production aimed at youth mental-health stigma reduction.
Granite County's public health office told commissioners on Sept. 16 it is preparing seasonal immunization clinics, youth outreach and community events.
Jerry Robinson of public health said flu and COVID vaccinations will begin Oct. 6 and be delivered using the Blue Cross Blue Shield van with clinic stops at Georgetown Lake through Drummond and school and daycare sites; the department plans to reach homebound residents via Meals on Wheels. "Right now, COVID is only recommended for those 65, so that will really be our target," Robinson said.
Robinson also described maternal and child health grant work, updates to a death-review team, and an Oct. 24 health fair in Phillipsburg partnered with the hospital. The department expects to host a mental-health theater production at the Phillipsburg Theater on Nov. 13 to engage youth, educators and providers and to discuss stigma and service gaps.
Separately, staff reported ongoing on-site septic inspections and mobile food-vendor plan reviews, and encouraged cottage-food registration for small bakers seeking limited regulation rather than a full health license.
Commissioners thanked the public health staff and asked for continued coordination with schools and hospital partners as clinics and outreach are scheduled.
