Granite County accepts insurance-agency commission check, delays contract signing

A representative for Marsh McLennan Agency explained the check was issued to the county by the trustees of the multi-county insurance pool so the agency's compensation is transparent. The representative said the arrangement differs from typical embedded carrier payments and that the firm is still finalizing contract language outlining the agent relationship.
Commissioners discussed whether the payment represented a reimbursement or compensation and were told the amount is embedded in premiums and is compensation to the agency, not a separate reimbursement. The board motioned to accept the check, retain copies for county records and table formal execution of the agreement until the template has been reviewed and finalized.
The county indicated it will return the contract for signature once Marsh McLennan provides the final version; in the meantime, the financial transfer was accepted and recorded for transparency.
