Cut Bank airport authority outlines grant-funded projects and seeks local match dollar for voter ballot

Rick Geiger, representing the airport authority, presented an update on airport finances, ongoing FAA and state grant projects and a proposed approach to a voter funding request during a Sept. 8 work session.
Geiger told the council the authority had applied for FAA funds and state aeronautics assistance to repair or replace a nonworking beacon on a main hangar; the FAA allotment for airports the authority described was about $150,000 annually for airports of this size, and state aeronautics funding would reduce the local match, leaving no local match out-of-pocket for that beacon project. Geiger said the beacon work is expected to proceed this fall and that engineering work is ready to begin once the required agreements are signed.
