The Germantown School District Policy Committee voted Aug. 11 to forward a comprehensive set of policy updates and administrative edits to the full board for consideration.
The packet covers bylaws and policy updates across the 100–9800 series, including agenda construction (policy 016), board conduct (policy 0144.5), student health and safety policies, and a new draft on use of audiovisual materials (policy 2524). Committee members debated several items in detail, asked administration for clarifying language and recommended amendments before the packet was approved to go to the board.
Dr. Reuter, presenting the packet, said the audiovisual-policy draft and other administrative guidelines were developed locally and are not Neola templates in full. He described the audiovisual policy as intended "to develop clear guidelines, for not only teachers and principals at the site level but also parents to understand, the purpose of how we can use audiovisuals in the classroom to enhance instruction versus supplement or replace instruction."
