Board hears CFO report and contingency plans after federal freeze of Title funds affecting roughly $4 million

Holly Timbs, chief financial officer, presented the May 2025 financial report highlighting that local revenues are collected at 96.82% and expenditures are running below budget at roughly 90.66% of planned levels. The presentation included a May revenue line item of $3,946,807.48 and noted a month‑over‑month increase compared with April.

Following the financial presentation, Doctor North informed the board that federal funding for Title 2A, 3A and 4A programs has been frozen. He estimated Douglas County’s exposure in narrative remarks at roughly $4,000,000 (figures were discussed in broad terms during the meeting). North said the district is preparing contingency plans so the start of school will not be placed ‘‘in limbo,’’ including shifting a small number of positions (approximately five employees) to the general fund and proposing a budget recommendation that would move about $1,000,000 to cover immediate needs if necessary. North said the district will communicate with parents and revisit the budget in next year’s cycle; he emphasized staff are preparing now to minimize disruption.

The board approved the May financial report at the meeting. No formal vote on a budget amendment was taken; Doctor North said he will return with formal recommendations to the board via email and in subsequent budget materials.
