District recommends awarding Medicaid billing contract to SES, citing faster claim processing and training

Liberty County staff briefed the school board on a request for proposals for a Medicaid billing consultant to help the district bill Medicaid for eligible services such as speech and language, occupational and physical therapy, nursing and counseling.

Two bids were received and reviewed. Staff said Medical Provider Services Inc., doing business as SES, proposed a fee of 9% of net fees paid to the district, offered on-site training, and performs claims processing every 30 minutes; Relay Hub LLC proposed a 7% fee and monthly processing. Staff recommended contracting with SES, citing the company's training and the more frequent claims-processing cadence. Staff said the estimated fiscal impact is about $28,800 per year and that funding would flow through IDEA and general funds.

During questions board members asked whether the district's staff would need to enter data. Staff said the vendor's teletherapists would enter data and that the vendor provides extensive training to practitioners.

Next steps: staff will bring a recommendation to award the contract to SES for board approval at the next public meeting and will provide the contract and funding details.
