Hocking County commissioners approve routine appropriations, liquor-license change and multiple right-of-way permits

At their Aug. 21 meeting, Hocking County commissioners approved several small appropriations including $1,150 for EMS tuition and $25,949 for juvenile court, approved a liquor-license name change and signed off on multiple right-of-way and utility-construction applications including ODOT-funded bridge and guardrail work and several pole replacements.
Hocking County commissioners met Aug. 21 and approved a series of routine fiscal and infrastructure items, including appropriations, a liquor-license name change and several rights-of-way and utility-construction applications.
The board approved a $1,150 additional appropriation to the EMS department to cover tuition receipts from a summer EMT basic course. Commissioners also approved an additional juvenile-court appropriation from Fund 2540 totaling $25,949, which includes $22,000 for salary and smaller amounts for retirement, Medicare and workers’ compensation. The board agreed to use $15,000 in new County CPATP funds for a Recovery and Support line item this fiscal year.
The commissioners approved a liquor-license name change at an existing address, revising the licensee name from 'La Mio Casino Pizzeria' to 'Pappadino's Pizzeria.'
On infrastructure, the board signed five documents presented by county engineer Bridal Shaw to enable ODOT-funded projects: bridge replacement work on Creamery Hill Road and guardrail work on Maysville Williams Road and Hideaway Hills Road, along with associated plan cover pages. The engineer had reviewed and signed the documents before the meeting.
Separately, the board approved multiple right-of-way applications involving South Central Power and other utilities. Approved items included pole replacements along Big Pine Road, Cell Road and multiple township roads; several requests to replace and extend risers; and a proposed aerial fiber build by Spectrum on Hawking Drive of about 13,536 feet with eight road crossings using overlashing to existing poles. Commissioners noted the engineer signed off on the maps and plans in each instance.
All of the items were approved by voice vote after motions and seconds. The meeting record shows these were procedural approvals; no extended debate or dissent on the items was recorded.
The commissioners moved on to other business after the approvals, including discussion of a solid-waste-district change on county property and sewer compliance plans the board authorized for transmission to the EPA.
