Metropark reports strong sales for summer shows; county gets fair logistics update

He also announced a memorial service scheduled the same day in the Montana Pavilion and a newly added July 22 show that organizers expect “about 8,500 ish” attendees. “This is actually selling extremely well, especially the week leading up,” Cody said.
Fair staff described an internal reorganization of the Fair Experience Committee following the resignation of advisory board member Steve Solberg and outlined short-term improvements intended to keep people at the fair longer. Staff said they plan to buy three shade units (each roughly 100 square feet) to be tested in shaded areas, coordinate large vendor tents near the 4-H Building, and return draft horses to this year’s schedule. Staff also said they have reserved a mobile video screen unit — identified in the transcript as “DIA” units — to place in the entrance courtyard to display information to attendees.
Officials warned that the county’s new ticketing vendor lacks the kiosk software used last year, which will require more on-site temporary staff at gates. Staff said the plan may include redeploying an existing trailer at Metropark 2 to assist gate operations.
The presentation emphasized logistics rather than policy decisions; commissioners asked brief follow-ups about scheduling and vendor arrangements. No county action was required or taken on the event- and fair-planning items during the meeting.
