Commissioners offer detailed edits to draft 2025–2040 comprehensive plan

Menomonee Falls — The Plan Commission conducted a full draft review of the village’s 2025–2040 comprehensive plan, focusing on visual presentation, photo updates, and several land use map corrections.

Planner Amy Bennett reminded commissioners they had held a public open house before the meeting and summarized resident feedback (closed bridges, affordable housing, and steady development). Bennett also noted the appendices will include a complete survey response set and a housing assessment executive summary to be delivered next month.

The bulk of the commission’s comments were editorial and map corrections: several photos on pages in the draft were identified as blurry or out of date and commissioners requested updated photographs (examples cited included certain page images, industrial imagery showing Leonardo DRS, and the Altosham/Glenroy site). Commissioners also walked through the land use maps (page 81), flagging areas along Main Street east of Pilgrim that are labeled high density on the draft but which commissioners advised should be medium or low density to reflect existing single‑family and duplex character.

Staff said the public hearing for the comp plan would be scheduled if the commission decides to move forward; tentative Plan Commission public hearing date cited was Nov. 4, with a committee of the whole on Dec. 1 prior to any Village Board action. The commission asked staff to update photos, verify land‑use classifications and to bring the executive summary and appendices for review at the next meeting.
