Greenup County approves new $350,000 paver, accepts bids for retaining walls and culverts

Judge Bobby Hall said the purchase is the first new paver the county has bought and the court approved disposing of two junk pavers to offset equipment needs. Commissioners then opened and read multiple contractor bids for the Stringtown retaining wall, Rivendell Road drilling work and box culvert projects on Little White Oak and Flat Hollow. After the bids were read, the court voted to accept the bids that had been presented and directed the road supervisor and commissioners to coordinate next steps.
The court also authorized the road supervisor to investigate closing Rescue Road, consult adjacent property owners and return with a recommendation. In addition, the court approved surplus listings for two items on GovDeals.com and authorized sealed bids for a surplus 2013 Ford Explorer (VIN ending in C15779).
The motions to purchase the paver and to accept the bids were made, seconded and approved by voice vote. No detailed funding breakdown for the paver purchase was provided during the meeting; the transcript records the contract price of $350,000 as read from the state contract.
