Brookhaven Development Authority approves bond inducement for Corporate Square and awards Leo Daley design contract

The Brookhaven Development Authority on Aug. 26 approved a bond inducement resolution for the Corporate Square/North Bend redevelopment project and separately awarded a conceptual design contract to Leo Daley, board members said.
Chair Martina Jackson opened the special call meeting and turned the floor to Mister Sigman, who described the two items as distinct parts of a single resolution package. “The first item is the bond inducement with the Corporate Square Slash North Bend redevelopment project,” Sigman said, adding that approval would allow staff to schedule the required advertising and move the matter to the court docket. Sigman also described the second item as a design contract to Leo Daley to “develop concepts for the general area of Buford Highway from Sun Tan Plaza right at the bridge on Buford Highway across from the Waffle House there up to North Druid Hills” for marketing to the development community.
A motion to approve the bond inducement resolution was made and seconded; the chair called for a voice vote, recorded responses were in the affirmative, and the chair stated the motion carried. The board then took separate action on the Leo Daley contract; a motion to approve the contract passed by voice vote after being moved and seconded.
The board did not record a roll-call vote in the public transcript. Mister Sigman described the bond inducement vote as an administrative next step following prior approval of a redevelopment agreement; he said the inducement clears the path for mandatory public advertising and subsequent court scheduling. The Leo Daley contract is described in the meeting as a conceptual design agreement intended to generate marketing-ready concepts along the Buford Highway corridor noted above.
The meeting moved into an executive session later in the agenda to discuss legal matters, land acquisition and personnel related to the VDA; no additional public action on the bond inducement or contract was recorded after the session. The board adjourned after welcoming the authority’s new economic development director.
