The Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District Board of Education recognized two state championship teams at its Dec. 1 meeting.
Board President Bob Hesselbein opened the meeting and invited the Middleton High School girls swim & dive team and coaches Andrew Cotton and Cindy Zacker to the front of the boardroom to celebrate a third consecutive state championship (2023–2025). The board highlighted that the program is only the 15th team in state history to win at least three straight championships and singled out two freshmen divers: Hannah Jadlowski, the program’s second individual dive champion, and Quinn Mazur, who placed second in Division 1 diving.
The meeting also honored Coach Dylan Griffith and the Middleton boys volleyball team for a 39–0 undefeated season that culminated in a state title. Presenters noted the team is only the second boys volleyball program in Wisconsin history to finish a season undefeated and emphasized sportsmanship and character praised by WIAA event staff and attendees.
Board members offered certificates of recognition and thanked coaches, families and district staff for their support. A motion and second to formally recognize the teams passed during the meeting.
The board’s recognition was ceremonial; there were no policy actions attached to the presentations. The board moved on to its regular agenda after the acknowledgments.
