The Muskegon County Human Services Committee voted to create a lead customer service specialist position (wage grade HW 8) and appoint the current employee at step 5 of the wage grade, effective Sept. 9, 2025. The motion to create the role and adjust the budget (HS25/09-50) was moved, supported and passed.
Susan, who identified herself as "human resources manager for Outlast," told the committee the action is intended to reorganize duties following the planned retirement of a supervisor. "This is an attempt to train our new customer services. This is a lead position. Right now, we have a supervisor position in that role who is going to retire, and we're taking his job duties, distributing them amongst several people, and eliminating that position when he retires," she said. Susan added the plan will backfill a customer service position and result in net savings for the department, though there will be some overlap as roles transition.
The committee approved the motion without recorded opposition.
