County approves $253,512.74 order for John Deere planter for Resource Recovery Center

Dave Johnson, Resource Recovery Center director, said the county used the state's MiDEAL purchasing contract rather than running a separate bidding process and reported trade-in offers: “Hudson's was an even 100,000. And GreenMark was a 102,330,” which staff said made the GreenMark trade-in the better option. Farm manager Mike Clover told the board, “We've been told that we should have a planter by March. No later than March.”
Commissioners asked whether multiple bids had been solicited and whether the purchase had been planned as part of the expansion; staff answered that the purchase was planned and that the MiDEAL contract allows local governments to piggyback on state competitively-bid pricing. Board members voiced support and the item was adopted as presented.
The action is recorded on the agenda as 25Slash06Dash050 and will be paid from FY2026 funds; staff said they will proceed with trade-in arrangements and order placement.
