Fiscal Court backs TJ Roberts' resolution supporting honorary 'President Donald J. Trump Highway' designation on KY-18

State Rep. TJ Roberts appeared at the Boone County Fiscal Court on Jan. 21 to request local endorsement for House Joint Resolution 8, which would ask the Transportation Cabinet to designate a portion of Kentucky Route 18 in Boone County as the "President Donald J. Trump Highway." Roberts read the draft text and asked the court to register its support as the local governing body affected by the designation.
Rep. Roberts said the resolution notes President Trump's elections in 2016 and 2024 and lists policy accomplishments the sponsor believes benefitted the country. Members of the public spoke briefly: Deborah Waller asked whether naming traditions favor posthumous honors; Roberts cited precedents (Howell Rogers Parkway, Muhammad Ali Boulevard) for naming while the honoree is living. Commissioners clarified the requested action is a non-binding supportive resolution and that the state legislature and Transportation Cabinet must enact any official signage; Rep. Roberts agreed no addresses would change. The fiscal court voted 4-0 to adopt a supportive resolution.
