Boone County approves sidewalk project modifications, roundabout right-of-way and awarding of print bid

Boone County Fiscal Court on Jan. 21 approved several administrative actions to advance transportation and county operations projects.
The court authorized contract modification No. 1 with H.W. Lochner for additional drainage design work and right-of-way acquisition related to the Sam Neese Road and Weaver Road sidewalk project. County Engineer Rob Franksman said the project is funded through an OKI transportation alternative grant (about 80% federal grant, 20% county match) and recommended moving forward with $48,519 in additional consultant work; the court approved the modification unanimously.
Separately, the court approved a right-of-way payment to move Parcel 8 of the Camp Ernst and Long Branch Road roundabout project to closing. The approved payment covers a temporary easement of 3,670 square feet for $2,500; Strand Associates is handling negotiations and staff expect acquisition activity to continue with construction projected for next summer pending additional closings.
In procurement, staff recommended awarding the 2025 annual bid for sign plot and print materials to Trigon Imaging after a rebid produced a single, substantially lower bid. The court adopted the staff recommendation and approved the award.
County staff and commissioners noted timeline expectations for construction and right-of-way acquisitions, and stressed continued coordination with state and federal partners for funding and scheduling.
