The Liberty City Council met in a brief special session April 17 and unanimously certified the municipal election results from April 8, 2025, including voter approval of a proposed 1% sales tax.
Mayor Greg Knutson said the council convened early because of a limited deadline to report the results and to complete certification, and he noted that the swearing-in of newly elected members is set for the regular meeting on April 28. "We have a limited amount of time to report the results of the 1% sales tax approval by the voters of the city," Knutson said.
During the session the clerk called the roll; those named in the roll call included Greg Knutson (mayor), Harold Phillips (First Ward), Shelton Plunder (First Ward), Kelly Wren Pozzo (Second Ward), Adam Travis (Second Ward), Kevin Graham (Third Ward), Jeff Watt (Third Ward), Jean Ginterpre (Fourth Ward) and Michael Hagan (Fourth Ward). The council then voted to certify the election results; the clerk asked, "All those in favor, raise your right hand," and the motion was announced as passing unanimously.
The transcript records the motion to certify and the statement that the motion "passes unanimously," but it does not record who made the motion or a roll-call vote allocating individual yes/no votes. A subsequent request for a motion to adjourn was made and met with "So moved," but the transcript ends before a recorded second or a vote on adjournment.
No ordinances, ballot language text beyond the referenced 1% sales tax, or detailed vote tallies by named member appear in the transcript.
