Commissioners told county awarded $1.3 million FWP grant for invasive-species work

Bryce, who identified himself as representing the county weed department, told the board that Fish, Wildlife & Parks awarded the county "a little over 1,300,000" to support invasive species management and revegetation work across 18 land managers in the Missoula Valley and surrounding areas. "So we know that we have 1.3, a little over 1,300,000 to help 18 different land managers ... to do invasive species management work and revegetation for desirable plant communities," he said.
County staff recommended the commissioners accept the grant award and noted the acceptance will be carried into the final budget process. Staff said the grant is effectively accepted for planning purposes but will be formally included when the county adopts the final budget.
Commissioners expressed support for accepting the money and asked staff to carry the award forward into budget adoption and related project planning.
