The Carbon County school transportation committee met Aug. 5 and approved 2025–26 bus routes for multiple districts, including Red Lodge, Bridger, Joliet and others. Presenters said most routes remain unchanged; Red Lodge will add a bus in the system inventory and Joliet plans to run one route in a Type E vehicle.
The committee approved a motion allowing the county transportation chairperson to approve route changes up to 10 miles without full committee approval, provided the chair confers with commissioners; the committee also approved mail/emailed ballots for larger route changes.
Separately, commissioners provided a county road-condition update: grading on Grove Creek and other local roads, gravel deliveries to specific roads (North Dry Creek dust control funded by Northwestern Energy at its pump/tank site), and planned pavement patching in the Brinter District. Commissioners discussed bridge work, realignment projects (Bridal Lodge area), and timing to support school access before the school year.
The committee set a tentative meeting date for Aug. 4, 2026, and agreed to continue routine inspections and filing route documentation for state compliance.
