Carbon County commissioners voted to approve a grant agreement with the Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation (DNRC) for $79,200 to fund staff reimbursement under the DNRC 'Option 3' cooperative fire-protection arrangement.
Commissioner (Speaker 12) moved to approve the grant agreement for $79,200; after members voiced aye, the chair announced the motion carried. County staff said the agreement reimburses county personnel at established rates when they respond to large-scale incidents funded through DNRC, and that the covered positions include the deputy fire warden, crew members, a deputy sheriff and dispatchers.
Staff noted this is the second round of similar funding and that the county has already used prior rounds to cover wages and a deputy-warden position. One item still outstanding is an incident rental agreement (IRA) to reimburse equipment usage during incidents, which staff said they are updating.
The board voted in favor; no abstentions were recorded on the motion.
