New Berlin planning commission holds two public hearings on zoning changes; no action taken

Staff read a notice for a proposed amendment to Chapter 275 of the city’s zoning code (section 275-25(b), building permits) that would add language addressing the value-of-work thresholds for new construction. According to staff, the amendment was requested by the assessor’s office, was posted and published in July, and was set for public action at a future planning commission meeting in October.
The commission then heard a staff readout of a rezoning petition filed by John Jewell for the parcel listed under tax key 1213996. The notice described a proposal to rezone the property from A-1 (agricultural) to R-1/R-2 (residential) and noted a three-lot land division accompanying the rezoning. The staff presentation indicated the rezoning and land-division materials are available online and that the items would return to the planning commission in October for further consideration.
No members of the public came forward to ask clarifying questions or offer testimony on either item during the hearings. After asking for speakers in favor and opposition and receiving none, the chair closed both hearings. The chair reminded residents that supporting materials and agendas are available on the city website and that both items will appear again on a future planning commission or council agenda.
Transcript notes: the staff read two different street-intersection descriptions for the rezoning parcel during the meeting (one reference to Coffee Road and Calhoun Road; another to Coffee Road and Wolffel Road). That inconsistency was recorded in the meeting materials and should be clarified in future staff reports.
