Chief Eamon described improvements the upgraded systems will provide: high-efficiency air cleaners for rooftop and split systems to improve indoor air quality and reduce mold risk; steam humidifiers for the basement to address low winter humidity and improve circulation; rooftop dehumidification upgrades to help the newly renovated area and added recirculation pumps to speed hot-water recovery to upper floors. He said in some locations the existing water-heating equipment has limited capacity and that the contractor recommended a commercial boiler with a storage tank and additional recirculation pumps to reduce hot-water wait times.
Board members asked for a written breakdown of the items added back into the scope and an estimate for the associated service contract. Chief Eamon said those items are listed in the materials provided to the board and agreed to provide a service-contract estimate for the next meeting on request. The first reading passed by voice vote; the item will return for subsequent action once staff provides the requested follow-up documentation.
