Liberty County schools receive clean FY24 audit; board approves tentative June 2025 financials

Miss Stephanie Clark, presenting the finance reports, told the board the FY24 financial audit resulted in an unmodified (clean) opinion. She said auditors found no material weaknesses or significant deficiencies in internal control, and no material findings related to federal awards. Clark said the audit and accompanying notes will be posted on the district website and uploaded to the Georgia Department of Audits website.
Clark also presented tentative financials for June 2025, noting that the numbers are preliminary while the district works to close out the fiscal year. The board moved and seconded to approve the tentative June 2025 financials; the motion carried unanimously.
The auditor noted the special education cluster and Impact Aid funding as areas reviewed during the audit and said the district used a $1,200,000 threshold to distinguish Type A and Type B federal programs.
