Commissioners approve renaming ExxonMobil Road to Par Montana Road

The Yellowstone County Board of County Commissioners approved Resolution 23‑47 on April 4 to change the name of ExxonMobil Road to Par Montana Road following the purchase of ExxonMobil by Par Pacific.
Alyssa Quiroz, the county GIS address coordinator, explained the request during a public hearing: “Par Pacific has purchased ExxonMobil, and the road that leads into the refinery is ExxonMobil Road. So they're looking to change that name to Par Montana Road.” Quiroz told the board the proposed name does not conflict with existing county road names and passes the county’s address checks.
The board opened the public hearing and asked for testimony; no members of the public spoke for or against the change. Commissioner Jones moved to approve Resolution 23‑47; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. Commissioners made brief remarks noting the new company name and the road’s signage will reflect the change.
The resolution takes effect according to county procedures for road-name changes and will be implemented through the county’s GIS and address systems.
