Brookhaven police report arrest in Blair Circle burglary and issue notices to problem establishments

The Brookhaven police department briefed the council on a burglary‑in‑progress response that occurred earlier that day at a storage facility near 3400 Blair Circle. Officers pursued suspects; a vehicle involved later crashed into a house and one person was taken into custody and is cooperating, police said.
The department also reported issuing business verification (revocation) notices to three establishments — Acapulco Lounge, The Spot and Josephine Lounge — because of repeated problems with crime and operating past authorized hours; the Penthouse Lounge had been served earlier. Those businesses have until the first of the month (per the notice) to begin an appeal with the finance department.
Police also said they are in week three of their Spanish Citizens Police Academy with strong turnout, scheduled promotional assessments for lieutenant and sergeant candidates (dates in late August), and reminded the council the Glow Run fundraiser at Peachtree Creek Greenway is set for Aug. 23 with proceeds supporting the department’s Shop with a Badge program.
The department described the person taken into custody as cooperating and said additional suspects are being identified; warrants have been sought for an additional individual named by the arrestee.
Next steps: police will continue the investigation into the burglary case and follow the appeal timeline for any businesses pursuing revocation hearings.
