At second read on June 9, the Tucker City Council granted a special land use permit (SLUP) to allow Luxe Events to operate a special event facility at 2101 North Lake Parkway and approved a concurrent variance for the required distance separation from residential properties. Planning staff Courtney explained the site constraints, described an amended, color‑coded parking plan submitted by the applicant and noted staff and the planning commission recommended denial of two variances tied to accessory structures (storage structures placed in parking spaces).
Applicant counsel Joseph Wilburn said the site has been used intermittently as an events venue for many years, presented the amended parking plan and committed that dumpster enclosures would be constructed and parking restriping completed within 90 days of SLUP approval. Staff added a recommended ordinance condition clarifying that “special events at the special event facility shall cease daily by 12:30 a.m.” and that any future accessory storage must comply with building and permit requirements.
Council member 8 moved to approve the SLUP and the distance‑separation variance while denying the two accessory‑structure variance requests; the motion was seconded and carried unanimously (7–0). The approval included the added conditions on parking plan timing and removal/enclosure of accessory structures.
