The Office Building Board voted Aug. 14 to authorize staff to enter a contract to purchase 20,000 feet of 1/0 aluminum utility conductor from TriState Utility Products of Marietta, Georgia, at a price presented to the board.
Procurement staff said 11 vendors were solicited for bid reference 2582; only one bid was submitted. Staff reported follow-up calls to non-bidders found some suppliers indicated they did not supply the requested product or elected not to bid. Operations staff explained 20,000 feet is a typical inventory level for the warehouse and that lead time for replenishment is about six to eight weeks depending on merchant availability and scheduled capital projects that will consume inventory.
A motion to authorize the purchase was made and seconded; the board recorded affirmative confirmations and the chair declared the motion carried.
Next steps: staff will issue the purchase order and coordinate delivery with warehouse and operations to manage inventory and project demand.
