Procurement staff said the city solicited 11 vendors; one bid was received from TriState. Utility operations staff explained the conductor is the industry standard for distribution repairs and capital replacements and that 20,000 feet is the typical inventory level for planned work and emergent repairs. Lead time was stated at about six to eight weeks from receipt of the purchase order.
Board members discussed inventory management, warehouse capacity and the trade‑offs of holding larger inventories versus lead‑time risk. The chair moved to authorize staff to enter the contract; the board approved the motion by roll call.
Next steps: staff will issue the purchase order and coordinate delivery and warehouse staging to support upcoming capital projects and emergency response.
